Each student will complete a one week work experience placement in Year 12. This experience will develop personal skills and support UCAS applications and CVs. All students receive independent careers advice from a level 6 advisor as well as accessing information from university visits and external speakers.

In addition, many subject areas plan their own careers-based activities such as university visits and off-site trips to employers, as well as accessing external speakers and alumni ambassadors.

Each year St John’s organises a Personal Development Careers day with external providers from Higher Education, Apprenticeship training organisations and employers offering advice and guidance about potential pathways for our young people.  Students select sessions to attend based on their aspirations and interests.

Every two years St John’s hosts a Careers Fair with a wide range of providers, employers and training organisations in attendance.  Students are encouraged to discuss their courses and their aspirations, gaining valuable advice regarding opportunities in Higher Education, apprenticeships and employment.
