Students from St John’s Sixth Form in Bishop Auckland enjoyed an inspiring cultural visit to York, bringing together our Performing Arts and Art cohorts for a day designed to broaden perspectives and spark creative thinking.

Experiencing Prima Facie Live on Stage

The centrepiece of the trip was a powerful performance of the critically acclaimed one‑woman play Prima Facie, starring the exceptional Jodie Comer. Her compelling portrayal gripped the audience from start to finish, offering students a thought‑provoking look at justice, morality, and the personal cost of truth.

For many, seeing Comer perform live provided a unique insight into professional theatre at the highest level—an invaluable opportunity for those studying performance and visual arts.

A Chance to Discover York’s Cultural Charm

Alongside the theatre experience, students spent time exploring York’s historic streets, taking in its stunning landmarks, independent shops, and vibrant cultural scene. The mix of history and creativity made an ideal setting for reflection and artistic inspiration.

Conversation, Community, and Shared Learning

The day concluded with a group meal, giving students the space to discuss the play’s themes and share their interpretations. These reflective conversations encouraged deeper thinking and allowed students to connect their classroom learning with real‑world artistic experiences.

Enriching the Sixth Form Experience

This visit is one of many enrichment opportunities offered at St John’s Sixth Form, helping students to:

  • Expand their understanding of professional arts
  • Draw inspiration from live performance

  • Build confidence and community within their subjects

We are delighted to provide opportunities that ignite creativity and support students’ growth, both academically and personally.
